PAN U19 | Bauru 2026: Double Gold for USA and a Generation on the Rise
USA claimed gold in both the men's and women's competitions at PAN U19 Bauru 2026, with host nation Brazil reaching both finals. Argentina took men's bronze and Canada women's bronze as a new group of players emerged onto the YARE Radar.

PAN U19 | Bauru 2026: Double Gold for USA, Two Finals for Brazil and a Generation on the Rise
The United States claimed both titles at the PanAm Aquatics U19 Championships in Bauru. Host nation Brazil finished with two silver medals, Argentina reached the men's podium and Canada completed the women's top three. Beyond the medals, YARE leaves Bauru with something else: the first names of a generation worth following.
Bauru is over.
The scouting starts now.
The 2026 PanAm Aquatics U19 Water Polo Championships brought together some of the Americas' key development national teams in Brazil.
When the competition ended, one nation stood on top of both tournaments.
USA.
Men's gold.
Women's gold.
Brazil reached both finals and finished its home tournament with two silver medals.
Argentina completed the men's podium.
Canada took bronze in the women's competition.
That is the final picture.
But it is not the whole story.

Two titles for the United States.
Two finals for Brazil.
Two different nations completing the podiums.
And behind those standings, several stories worth keeping.
MEN | The road to gold was not straightforward
The USA men's title becomes more interesting because the Americans did not move through the entire tournament unbeaten.
Brazil had already stopped them.
And it happened in one of Bauru's defining games.
Brazil 20β19 USA after penalties.
Regulation ended 13β13.
A long shootout followed before the host nation secured the victory.
It was more than another preliminary result.
It demonstrated that Brazil could genuinely challenge the United States.
USA | From defeat to gold
The Americans had already demonstrated their offensive depth.
Against Canada, they won 28β9, with Jett Taylor scoring eight goals.
In the 20β19 game against Brazil, Ellis Culleton scored six.
The USA then responded with an 18β7 victory over Argentina.
Eventually, the tournament brought the Americans back to Brazil.
This time in the final.
This time the outcome changed.
The United States won the game that decided the title.
Brazil had won the first major battle.
The USA won the one that delivered gold.
YARE RADAR | Jett Taylor
Jett Taylor was already a name we had identified for continued tracking.
Bauru gave us more reasons.
Against Canada:
8 goals.
Against Brazil:
3 goals.
YARE is not labelling Taylor the tournament's βbest playerβ. There is no reason for premature labels.
There is a reason to remember the name.
YARE RADAR: Jett Taylor.
YARE RADAR | Ellis Culleton
Six goals against Brazil.
Four against Argentina.
Ellis Culleton demonstrated production across different types of games, including one of the highest pressure matches of the tournament.
For a scouting project, that matters.
His name enters the radar as well.
YARE RADAR | Luke Harris
Goalscorers are not the only story.
Luke Harris provided a consistent presence in goal for the United States.
Across the games analysed:
7 saves vs Canada
8 saves vs Brazil
8 saves vs Argentina
Repeated production matters.
That is why the YARE Radar does not stop with goalscorers.
BRAZIL | Silver does not tell the whole story
Brazil finished second.
That is the result.
It is not the complete assessment of its tournament.
The host nation reached the final after already proving that it could defeat the eventual champion.
The 20β19 victory over the USA deserves to remain part of the Bauru story.
At U19 level, we are not only looking for champions.
We are looking at the distance between development programmes.
In that particular game, the distance was one penalty.
ARGENTINA | On the men's podium
Argentina completed the tournament with bronze.
The third-place finish matters within the wider picture.
Behind the two finalists, Argentina secured a place on the podium and added its own presence to the story of the next generation of men's water polo in the Americas.
For YARE, that creates another follow-up.
Not simply who won bronze.
But which players from that group will make the next step.
WOMEN | USA on top
The American women showed their offensive depth early.
Against Canada:
USA 25β4 Canada.
Against Brazil:
USA 14β8 Brazil.
Against Mexico:
USA 30β1 Mexico.
The margins were substantial.
But the more interesting element was that the production did not depend on one player.
YARE RADAR | Maci Magee
Maci Magee was one of the names that repeatedly appeared in the match reports.
Against Canada:
7 goals.
Against Brazil:
3 goals.
She continued to contribute offensively across the tournament.
There is no need to attach an unverified individual award to that production.
The numbers are enough to keep her on the radar.
YARE RADAR | Eden Coughran
Eden Coughran also produced consistently.
3 goals against Canada.
3 against Brazil.
4 against Mexico.
Different opponents.
Repeated production.
Exactly the kind of detail worth tracking when development, rather than a single highlight, is the focus.
BRAZIL WOMEN | From an opening defeat to the final
Brazil's women's tournament produced an interesting progression.
Early in the competition, the hosts lost 14β12 to Canada.
Later, the two teams met again and Brazil responded with a 16β13 victory.
Brazil ultimately reached the final.
It is a perfect example of why an U19 tournament should never be judged through one result.
Young teams change during tournaments.
They adjust.
They respond.
And sometimes the second meeting tells a very different story from the first.
CANADA | Bronze and a win worth remembering
Canada completed the women's competition in third place.
But its 14β12 victory over Brazil in their first meeting gives the bronze additional context.
The team that eventually finished third had already demonstrated that it could defeat the eventual silver medallist.
That makes the women's tournament more nuanced than the final standings alone suggest.
Two gold medals. More than one story.
If we look only at the top of the standings, the conclusion is simple.
USA. USA.
The United States won both competitions.
Look deeper and Bauru tells us more.
Brazil reached two finals.
Its men's team defeated the USA before meeting the Americans again in the final.
Argentina reached the men's podium.
Canada reached the women's podium after defeating finalist Brazil earlier in the tournament.
And throughout the competition, individual players emerged whose names should not disappear from the radar simply because Bauru is over.
Medals tell us who won in Bauru. Development will tell us who really won this generation.
From Bauru to the next level
This is the part that matters most to YARE.
What happens next?
Who moves into the NCAA?
Who develops into a key senior national team player?
Who appears again at the next major youth competition?
And which names currently sitting on Bauru match sheets will we be discussing again in two or three years?
PAN U19 gave us the first picture.
Now the tracking begins.
