LEGAL INFORMATION
GDPR — Personal Data Protection
Transparent information about how we protect your personal data. Last updated: 2 October 2026.
1. Purpose of this notice
This notice explains how YARE Water Polo, through yarewaterpolo.com, collects and uses personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and applicable Greek law.
2. Controller and contact
The controller for this website is YARE Water Polo. For questions or to exercise a right, contact contact@yarewaterpolo.com. We may request reasonable proof of identity before responding to protect your information.
3. Data we process
- Contact requests: name, email, optional phone, subject, message, language, source page, IP and technical device information.
- Newsletter: email, optional name, language, signup source and subscription status.
- Editor and administrator accounts: email, name, identifier and access role.
- Optional presence measurement: random session identifier, IP, approximate country/city/region, browser, operating system, device type, visited page and referrer. For signed-in staff, this may be linked to their account.
- Editorial and sports content: information about athletes, coaches and others published for news reporting and sports documentation.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Responding to enquiries: consent or steps taken at your request.
- Newsletter: consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Security, abuse prevention, technical operation and account administration: legitimate interests and, where relevant, performance of a working relationship.
- Optional audience measurement and external media: consent through Privacy settings.
- Editorial content and sports data: journalistic purposes, public information and legitimate interests, while respecting individual rights.
- Legal compliance and legal claims: legal obligation or legitimate interests.
5. Recipients and providers
Access is limited to authorised team members and providers supporting hosting, database, security, storage, authentication and email delivery. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent abuse. Embedded content from YouTube, Facebook or Spotify loads only after your choice.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers rely on an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism, together with appropriate supplementary safeguards.
7. Retention
- Optional online-presence records are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Newsletter data is retained until consent is withdrawn or you unsubscribe, and afterwards only as needed to demonstrate compliance.
- Contact enquiries and email copies are retained only as long as needed to respond, maintain security and continuity, and address legal claims.
- Staff accounts are retained while active and for as long as necessary after deactivation for security and legal obligations.
8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you have rights to information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. Send requests to contact@yarewaterpolo.com.
9. Complaint
You may lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority: www.dpa.gr.
10. Children and sports reporting
The site does not invite children to create accounts. Because YARE covers youth sport, names, images and sporting performance of minors may appear for journalistic reporting. Requests for correction or review can be submitted through the Contact page.
11. Security
We use access controls, role checks, encrypted transfer, form protection and consent records. No system is completely secure, but safeguards are reviewed according to risk.
12. Privacy choices and changes
You can accept, reject or change optional audience measurement and external media through “Privacy settings” in the footer. Essential security and sign-in functions remain active. We may update this notice when services or law change. Last updated: 2 October 2026.
